A newly hatched adult flea is unfed, small, black and aggressive.
After a blood meal, a female flea can lay 15–20 eggs a day. The eggs hatch between day 2 and up to 2 weeks. There are three essential steps to achieve a successful flea treatment which must be carried out simultaneously.
Pet Treatment
Bedding should be washed, dry cleaned or discarded and a treatment program in place.
Household Cleaning
Vacuum and/or steam clean all interior floor surfaces. This will aid in collecting eggs and adults. Immediately dispose of the vacuum bag into an outdoor garbage bin. The contents of a bag less vacuum cleaner should be emptied directly into a garbage bag and promptly placed in an external bin. Lawns must be freshly mowed to enable complete penetration.
Professional Pest Control
We will treat all interior flooring, front and rear lawns, sub floor if accessible, garage interior as well as all other concrete and paved areas. After application, we recommend a wait time of 2-4 hours for re-entry. This ensures surfaces have completely dried. It is important to note, fleas may continue to be seen for up to 2 weeks after treatment. Adult fleas must hatch from casings and meet the insecticide deposits. Insecticides are unable to penetrate the pupal case. And most important of all, please do not leave flea infested areas undisturbed – vibrations from movement hatches fleas.
